About Us
Jennifer Harrington, ABCDT
Jennifer's love for animals is the foundation for The Zenful K-9. She believes that all people can have a fulfilling relationship with their pets and is committed to supporting you in developing the tools and skills needed for success. Her methods focus on relationship building, life skills training and troubleshooting problem behaviors in an accessible way. When she's not training with local pet owners, she works closely with area rescues, focusing on taking dogs from the shelter system and into loving homes.
Post-Adoption Consultations and Support
Many people are hesitant to adopt a shelter dog vs buying a puppy, because of the concern that rescue dogs come with a variety of behavioral problems. Not all rescue dogs have these issues, but when they do, we believe at The Zenful K-9, that these issues are temporary and fade with time, love, patience, and training. Our post-adoption support is focused on reducing the number of pets returned to the shelter. We believe that when new pet owners have the right tools they can successfully help their new family member through this transition period. We are committed to helping shelter dogs find new homes and offer a rescue dog discount. Contact us for more details.

Group Classes
Join us at Clubhound in Garden City for group classes! Note: Non-Clubhound members will need to purchase a $15 Clubhound day pass for each class in addition to fees charged by The Zenful K-9
Puppy Social Hour at Clubhound (Ages 12 to 24 weeks)

Join us at Club Hound for a 4-week puppy socialization class Sundays from October 20th to November 10th, 9 to 10am. This class is for Puppies aged 12 to 24 weeks. This is the optimum age range to set your puppy up for a lifetime of successful friendships, both doggie and human. All puppies must have had their first set of puppy vaccines prior to the start of class.
Puppy Life Skills at Clubhound (Ages 16 weeks to 1 year)

Join us at Club Hound for a 4-week Puppy Life Skills class Sundays from October 20 to November 10th, 10:30 to 11:30am. We will cover everything your puppy needs to know to start out life on the right paw; cues from a reliable sit and down, to place, stay, wait, come, let's go, leave it, loose-leash walking impulse control and more!
Dog Life Skills at Clubhound (Ages 1 Year Plus)

Join us at Club Hound for a 4-week Dog Life Skills class from October 20 to November 10th, 1:30 to 2:30pm. We will cover everything your dog needs to know to live a happy, safe and emotionally healthy life with you; cues from a reliable sit and down, to find it, place, stay, wait, come, let's go, leave it, impulse control and more!
Puppy Training
The puppy months set the foundation for your dog's lifetime behavioral health, confidence, and general obedience. Training mistakes during this period can lead to fears/phobias and disruptive tendencies that become long-term problems and are challenging to reverse later in life. From potty training, socialization, respecting boundaries, recall, leash etiquette, and basic obedience we are here to get your puppy off on the right paw.
Puppy Crash Course - Single session

Basic puppy training is provided in your home, with a focus on providing the tools to set a good behavioral foundation for your puppy and avoid common pitfalls.
Private Six week Program
$474
Sessions take place in your home and include potty training, socialization, respect for boundaries/fences, basic obedience, leash etiquette, and relationship building. The 6-week program is a 20% discount from the single session cost.
Obedience Training
This program teaches pet parents to use positive reinforcement dog training techniques to teach their dog basic life skills such as sit, down, stay, focus, place, recall, door etiquette, four on the floor, etc. The series focuses on making learning fun and rewarding. Sessions are approximately a week apart, with dog obedience homework to be completed prior to the next training.
Private 6-session Package

Training is done at your home or place of your choosing and is customized depending on your and your dog's individual needs.
Behavior Problem Solving
Many problem behaviors have a simple reason behind them. Most can be alleviated or eliminated with a combination of obedience training and finding the root of the problem. The Zenful K-9 will help you uncover your dog's stressors and motivations to alleviate or remove problem behaviors. Treatment plans are focused on solving behaviors such as digging, bolting, chewing, excessive barking, unruly behavior in the house, jumping, mouthing, etc.
One-on-one Problem Solving Consultation

A single session designed to help you identify the root causes of your dog's behavioral problems, providing you with strategies to reduce or eliminate them.
Custom Six week Behavioral Plan

Six sessions designed around an individualized plan based on the needs of you and your dog.

Reactivity Reset
If your dog barks, lunges and growls on walks, our Reactivity Reset can help you to better understand your dog's behavior and help you find tangible solutions. Reactivity, and the aggressive looking behavior that comes with it is a complicated problem. It is often caused by fear, anxiety, lack of confidence, under-socialization or hyper-vigilance. The solutions are not one-size-fits-all. The Zenful K-9 can create a customized plan to help you work through your dog's reactivity issues.
Soft Reset
$594
A six-session individualized program designed to help you understand your dog's reactive behavior and give you the tools you need to improve or eliminate that behavior. This program will be adequate for most dogs, but can be upgraded to the Hard Reboot Program later if necessary.
Hard Reset

A 12-session in-depth program for dogs with severe reactivity that cannot be resolved in just 6 weeks. This course will include more advanced behavior modification strategies for dogs with severe reactivity
Dog Aggression Treatment
Aggression in dogs is often a result of fear, anxiety and/or frustration. Finding the root cause of the emotions behind your dog's aggressive behavior paired with a solid management and treatment plan can go a long ways toward bringing tranquility back into the home your share with your dog. At The Zenful K-9, we take into consideration things like your living situation/home layout, family makeup, time/emotional resources, and other pets in the home, etc. when making a recommendation.
One-time Consultation
$149
An in-home assessment of your dog's behavior that focuses on finding the root causes. Based on discoveries made during this consultation, a recommendation will be made regarding which, if any of our packages will fit your needs. Our focus is always on solutions, however sometimes, rehoming or in very rare cases euthanasia may be recommended. A referral to a veterinary behaviorist will be made if medical causes may be a factor in your dog's behavior.
6-session Teatment Plan
$894
This plan will be enough to solve most aggression problems. A recommendation will be made based on the initial consult.
10-session Teatment Plan
$1490
This plan will be recommended for dogs that have extreme fear, anxiety or anxiety driving his/her behavior and will need additional behavior modification in their plan.
